ANNA MARIA ISLAND, Fla. (April 25, 2007) – On June 23, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike will gather at Coquina Beach bayside from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Florida Gulf Coast Outdoor Festival. The festival includes a wide variety of eco-friendly and family-friendly activities and entertainment designed for the growing number of visitors and residents who love outdoor adventure and the area’s unique experiences that celebrate and preserve Florida’s natural environment.
This year’s Outdoor Festival will feature kayak seminars and clinics that provide basic paddling instructions, quick tips on how to choose the right kayak for your body type, and how to pack the essentials for a kayak camping trip. Experienced kayakers will be on hand to give beginners a quick interactive demonstration free of charge. Other activities include a kayak race, guided canoe tours and a fishing tournament. There will also be plenty of island-style cuisine, arts and crafts booths, and live entertainment throughout the day.
No outdoor enthusiast will want to miss nearby eco-attractions such as the Mote Marine Aquarium, Island Turtle Watch, the South Florida Museum, and Around the Bend Nature Tours, just to name a few. Walking tours, boat rides, and guest speakers all make for an unforgettable family day in Florida’s great outdoors.
The annual event is organized by the Florida Gulf Coast Sports Commission, Manatee County Parks and Recreation, the Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Bradenton Beach. For more information on the Florida Gulf Coast Outdoor Festival, visit www.fgcsc.com.
